Hi, i have just bought a Hymer Nova 530tb, ( 2001 ) and am waiting for it to be serviced, in the meantime does any body know if the heating is gas and electric, or just gas ?? as i cant get the gas to work for the heating and cant seem to find any other switches...Steve

The UK build spec ones were both Gas and mains Electric heating. Continental will depend on original order spec where electric was generally a costed option.

There should be a gas isolation tap directly under the sink, one of a group. Hymer say these should be turned off for each trip, maybe the previous owner actually did this!

Also if everything else fails replace the igniter battery.[pull off heater housing from the top, battery box on the base plate left side; it has a slide up cover . battery one AA ]

Cheers John

Steve, with my degenerated hearing any click must be very quiet, however whilst its "clicking" it also flashes the red indicator light ,top surface far left.

Battery the correct way round? Positive on mine is to the left.

I would also check that the wires from the igniter are in place.

i have had the front cover off so that i can see the viewing window on the bottom left, were abouts is this red indicator light ??? batterys are new and checked with a multimeter, as to the way round i put them in as the marks in the plastic were + & - .... do you think i ought to swap them round ??

Steve, The heater in my 2002 545 is a Truma S55T.

The indicator light is on the top cover plastic piece upper surface far left side, about 8-10 mm dia. It flashes whilst pressing down the gas control/ thermostat knob that is on the right upper surface. When the gas is lit you hold the knob down for about 10 seconds to ensure the flame failure valve is set and on releasing the knob the light goes out.

No don't put the battery in the "wrong" way round, as you say its marked then that's the way it should go.

I will see if I can find a link to the manual and post that.
