Hi does anyone tow with the above car ? new shape 2.2 diesel manuel,if so what do you tow ?is it any good at towing a twin axel van I might look for a new van if I do it might be a twin axel poss up to say 1650 kg but the cars kerbweight is just over 1900kg so in should be ok but theres nothing like asking someone who is already doing exactly that.Look forward to any responses

Hi Rob,

I have a manual 2.2 Diesel Santa FE. I tow a Lunar Delts Ti twin axle and it's all up weight is only 1700 kgs. ( it was plated with a higher load allowance by Lunar to accomodate 4 motor movers. Be care full with the low Santa FE nose weight of only 85kgs.The vehicle is brilliant for towing or solo. Towing it returns 27 mpg and 35 mpg solo. I have the 5 seater model and because the rear suspension is a little soft I fitted MAD internal springs and it makes the back end firmer but not solid. The only down side is the 2 nd gear ratio, it's too low and third is too high for long hill climbs. That said it will hold 60 mph in 5th gear at 2000 rpm on cruise control. Plenty of space inside for storage and below floor area. A good solid tow car.

hiya, i have a 57 plate santa fe cdx 7 auto. i tow a 2008 bailey senator wyoming 1678kg. with the 7 seaters you get self lev suspension it does help.

the car does around 21-24 mpg towing at 60 mph, i get around 27-28 towing at 55 mpg both with cruise control on set to gps sat nav.

on the motorway without the van dring at about 70 we get in the 40's.

it tows our wyoming with no problems. i have the auto but also i can push it over and drive it manually. i cant comment on the manual though.

if you are buying new make sure if you get the gsi model you get the ipod connection and front fogs if you dont then its an old model.

rob i agree with mike about the max towball weight. i think on the autos its only 80kg and on the manuals it is 85kgs. we only have the gas bottle in the front of the wyoming and nothing else and its fine. even though the 7 seaters have the self lev suspension we are still carefull what goes in the front locker.
