This raises four questions:
Is the 'old' RAM compatible with the laptop and/or its existing RAM?
How much RAM did you have/have you got now?
Is the laptop capabale of running the 'new' quantity of laptop?
Are you running 32bit or 64bit Windows?

We need to know much more detail.
Make and model of machine
Details on the RAM labels - type (DDR2? DDR3?), speed (PC6400 or...?), quantity of RAM of both modules.
Version of Windows

Might be better to just drop by the local PC specialist (not Currys or PC World) and they would probably fit the new RAM for free if you bought it from them. Assuming of course that the PC can benefit by new RAM.

This is your second post to this forum and neither of the two posts that you submitted have mentioned any aspect of touring caravan ownership.
