Is it true

Hi all and Merry Christmas.

I was talking to a genleman that works in the caravan manufacturing industry. He has told me that the big players are thinking of going back to GRP panels instead of these ABS panel that there having so much trouble with. Does anybody know any more about this change of direction.

It would not surprise me at all - when you consider how thin they are and there is a lot more of the panel which now reaches right onto the roof. A very large area indeed, although the manufacturers could argue that as the roof is solid this should elminate any twisting and therefore less stress on the panels.

Have a look at "Buyers Guide" "Was I wise in buying a brand new Bailey"

We are still waiting for a technical comment .

Cheers

Alan

I think the question is; is it the materials fault, the specification asked for by the caravan manufacturer either not delivered or not adequate, or the fitting of?

If it was the material alone then every panel would surely suffer and that's evidently not the case.

I would guess it's fair to say the ABS Manufacturer would have tighter control over manufacture than eventual fitting, further, would he deliberately manufacturer to a spec he knows is unlikely to be suitable?

To my mind then it leaves fitting as a contributor, what I also strongly believe is wheel balance or rather the lack of, is a strong contender.
