Hi Colin

Thanks for the info. I went to the towbar fitter today and the towbar they were talking about fitting was a Brinks towbar. I asked about a Witter and they said that they don't deal with Witter but he had a Witter catalogue which he checked and said that it appeared that no cut is necessary for a Witter. He is to check on Monday to see if he can get one and if so they will fit it.

Michael

You might want to check with your fitter that it is a Witter towbar and if it is then it looks like it will be ok.

I went to the dealer and the car was in having its PDI so we had a look at it. Looks great and can't wait until next weekend.

Colin

How do you find your Commander for towing?

Cheers

Hi Colin & Richard,

Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out with the fitter when I get the car. I got the registration docs on Sat saying first day of reg is 01/03/07 so I guess I too will be getting the car on the weekend. I hope so because I hate waiting!

Hi Colin

Thanks for the info. I thought that the answer would be that it tows like a dream and I am looking forward to getting it.

The car is at the dealer and they have completed the PDI so I could have got it tomorrow (1st March) but as I work in Dublin through the week I have to wait until Saturday.

Still I am taking the week off work next week so a visit to the towbar fitter on Monday (booked in for Monday morning) and then off in the 'van for a few days on Tuesday.

Check with your dealer.it staits in the owners manual not to tow until you have about 1000 miles on the clock. not sure if its exactly 1000 miles but its around that

Hi Colin

We checked with the dealer who said it was ok to tow immediately. The reason we checked though was that it stated in the manual when we got my wife's Kia Sorento not to tow for the first 500 miles.

I intend to check in the manual when we get the car and see what it says. If it does not mention it then I will get confirmation, in writing, from the dealer that it is ok. That way at least they will hpefully check before committing it to writing.

Thanks for the advice.

Cheers

Hi Colin

Well got the car yesterday and checked the manual. The manual says not to tow for the first 500 miles. As I said we can take my wife's car when we go away next week (Wednesday now not Tuesday as I need to go to Dublin on Tuesday) but now that I've driven the Commander I'd rather take that!!! So took my daughter over to Edinburgh yesterday (round trip 150 miles) and we're off for a run in the car today. Also the round trip to get the towbar on is 50 miles. I think I might just about be able to do the 500 miles before Wednesday.

Early impressions about the car - BRILLIANT.

Cheers

Richard
