Hi all, thank you for your comments on my earlier posting, relating to grand cherokee's.

We have been for a brief look and a test drive, we think they are a lovely car, but are undecided between the limited and the overland models!

Any feedback on the pro's and con's of each, would be great, how does the sat nav perform?

Any comments much appreciated.

Regards Andrew.

Depends on what level of trim you are looking for. We have a 2005 Limited with the factory fitted sat nav, the system is excellent and user friendly, only downside is the cost of new discs should you want to upgrade the system when updated discs are released.

I also have a Limited (56 Plate) and before this a base 3.0 CRD.

Great car to drive solo and towing. If you are buying used I would suggest looking around for different models with extra's added. I bought mines at a few months old and initially went looking for an Overland but preferred the look and trim with extras on the Limited I bought.

The Grand Cherokee has just had a minor update and there are some good deals around - the Jeep website is good and easy to search the stock of dealers in a given radius.

Personally, I find the SatNav a pain and always use my TomTom unless I forget it, however the 6 cd multi-changer is great and a good reason alone for taking the system.

I love mine and have had no major problems with either model date - its an easy car to live with day to day. Only criticism is I wiss they would use less plastic or a better quality on the interiors.

Ours was one of the 1st of the production line and did have a few problems which were unknown to Jeep hence ours was a bit of a guinea pig whilst they searched for solutions. Biggest problem was a Turbo problem which on ours had the Turbo replaced (Although the turbo hadn't blown) later vehicles had a modification to the turbo. Overall the vehicle has settled down and gives sterling service. As I said before the only other tug I would want is the new Range Rover. Towing mpg varies between 18mpg and 23mpg depending on road type and condition. On Monday we towed south on the A9 from Aviemore to Perth and returned 23mpg with a 1700kg t/a van. Yesterday we towed 255 miles from Cummrie in Perth shire to York via A822, M9, M73, M6, A66 and A1 overall returned 20mpg which isn't bad for the route taken , regardless of the hills the cruise control held a constant 55mph .
