Jockey Wheel Tyres

I have just bought a new tyre for my jockey wheel. The last one, made in China, lasted just less than 2 years, before the cracks around it made it look ready to collapse. I tried a couple of tyre fitters to see if they had better alteratives, but they did not.I don't want to use a solid wheel as I find that the mover operates more easily with the pneumatic tyre. Does anyone know of any way of helping to extend the life of the tyres, or is the only way to keep them protected from direct sunlight?

What is the price of anew tyre? Are you really going to worry about it?

Better to fork out a few quid than sit worrying all day.

2 years is fine, just look at your car tyres. Age is just as important as mileage.

All tyres benefit from regular painting with "tyre black" paint as it helps reduce the UV deterioration.

I paint both sides of my caravan tyres during the winter lay up and the outsides mid-seaon, if I get chance.

Also rubbing the sides with black boot polish helps keep them subtle, used to black polish my motorbike tyres whenI was a teenager. Today I just use a aerosol tyre polish
