I wrote most of this in reply to a different post but thought it may interest others about the joys of caravanning, and maybe promote others into expressing what they like about caravanning.

When we stop caravanning I hope our grown up children will have caught the bug ( which I hope we have infected our Grandaughter with ) and continue to visit places which we couldn't afford to visit with B&B costs etc.

To wake next to the Sea on a Sun Drenched Beach in the North of Scotland what more could anyone ever wish for!!!!!

Shake it off Young Man, 60 is the new 25. I spent at least 3 hours a day in a play park near Stirling over the weekend, and when you talk to the children of caravanners it opens your eyes. The new generation of children are alive and well and having a ball. Really I have only just become aware of the fun the young have when on a good Caravan Site with first rate play facilities.

The social skills which children learn from interacting with each other will set them up for life. Ever noticed how well they learn to share?? The swings, the chute etc they are learning many of the skills required in life, like the older children making sure the younger ones get a shot on the swings.

Now that impressed me the older children only 10 or 11 making sure the younger ones had a turn.

Agree - we were at Huntly Castle caravan site a few weeks ago with our grandchildren - must have been 20 or so children all playing on the central play space and climbing frame - all mixed well and as in Stirling the older ones were quite protective of the younger ones.

We also took our 2 to Edinburgh CC site for a week - what fun they had each evening with their new "best friends" and the parents (and grandparents) socialised too while they were watching their children play. Even better the evening they all had water pistols!!!

Just back from a long weekend at Ord House Country Park in Berwick and will definately go again!!!

The site is beautiful and kept in immaculate condition. We arrived quite late but the staff couldn't have done any more to ensure we were made welcome and settled into our pitch. We were near enough to the playpark to allow our grandkids play on their own and they had a ball - we hardly saw them all weekend.

The facilities, especially the toilets/showers were pristine every day and I'm a bit fussy with toilets etc but these were brilliant. Also had a lovely meal in the Clubhouse which was delicious (I can recommend the Haggis in giant Yorkshire pud with mash and gravy - scrummy!) All in all a brilliant weekend in a lovely town on a super site - will go again at the first opportunity.

Robert

I'll second that about Ord House. Lovely place and in 2006 it was voted to have the best toilet facilities in the North East.

We're off on our travels this saturday, let's hope it stays sunny, no rain.

Were you ever a Poet Laureate? LOL

Cheers
