We've put this revised-for-2018 Kampa caravan awning to the test – take a look.

What a scruffy flimsy looking bit of kit. I think I'll still be sticking to my Isabella Magnum that doesn't need a roof lining to reduce condensation or brightly coloured guy ropes which just means yet more pegging. The number of air awnings up for sale nationally seems to say it all really.

I'll stick with my pole awning too , mind you , it might off looked a bit better if he had tensioned his guy ropes up !

We had an inflatable Rally Air when we first bought the caravan... it was easy to put up / take down and actually looked OK. However, in France it was so hot you couldn't stand in it and it made the caravan really hot too - even with all the doors 'removed'. It was like sitting sweating in a greenhouse, probably because of the plastic roof.

I have the 2016 version which does not have the side extension. It has 3 front windows which I think look much better than the new version

Not the first awning review where the awning hasn't been put up properly, and the photos look terrible. Bit more time and attention to detail, PC. Let's face it your raisin d'etre is to take photo's of caravan stuff and then write about it.

Air awnings are becoming ridiculously overpriced. Given the numbers on the market and the improvement in technology, you would think that they would be getting cheaper.

We bought the Air Ace however after about 5 uses we sold it as too many issues with it. The main one was the weight of the awning dragging it along the awning rail and then of course condensation. We then bought a Magnum Coal for less than what we had paid for the Air Ace.
However despite the Air Ace putting us off inflatable awnings we purchased a Kampa Rapid 220 air awning for use in the winter months. A lot lighter than the Air ace obviously, easy to erect and very little issue with condensation. Cost of this 220 inflatable awning was £160!

There are even cheaper Kampa Rapid 220s on sale. Lowest thus far £99. At that price you could use it fir a season and then bin it. But if it's like a lightweight pole awning that we had some years back at around £60 it just went on and on and got more use than the full sized awning.

I think the thread is about Air awnings and not traditional awnings? However you are correct about the normal one being under £100 if you look around.

Oops. But if the traditional one is anything like the lightweight that we used for several seasons it could be put up very quickly within 15 minutes and the most time consuming but being pegging out. Also had the advantage that the awning and poles could be stowed separately. But apologies for the digression.
