Can someone tell me are they welcome. Are they allowed to ride around on their bikes? Read a review that said play park was for over 5's is this the case. I have a 4 year old and 2 year old and will be ther for 5 days from saturday. Can anyone tell me what the cycle paths are like nearby or are there any buggy friendly walks. Never been to England or caravan club sites before. Thanks

Hi Nicola,

We were at Troutbeck Head at the end of May, there were plenty of kids on bikes on the sites (too many for comfort sometimes!), and the play area is a normal CC one. The Games Room says no unaccompanied children on the door but (as usual) most parents ignored this! Site is very nice, but from what I saw there are no cycle paths direct from the site - though there is a track into the local woods etc. This track is possible with a baby buggy, but the first bit is a little narrow and bumpy. Have a great time either way.

Hi Nicola,

We stayed at this site last summer for a week (with a 2 and a 4 year old)and bikes were allowed. The play area was too big for them but we still really enjoyed the site and had a fab week. There are lots of places to visit nearby (try the Rheghed centre in Penrith where there is an outside play fort and inside soft play plus lots of nice shops and the Sunday lunch was amazing!). We also visited the Pencil museum at Keswick and the Brockhole visitors centre in Windermere has a good adventure playground suitable for little ones too. We did lots of walks around various locations around the lakes, but found we couldn't really walk directly from the site itself.

Enjoy your holiday, we'll definitely go back (but are coming to Scotland and Northern Ireland) this year for a change!

Hi Nicola, Troutbeck head is situated on three levels, has 2 toilet blocks The entrance to the site is down a steep hill, the grass on the side acts as the dog walk.

Their is a river that runs along side the camp, beware of the midges they can be very aggressive. The site shop sell plenty of midge repellent, none of which helped me.

Never stayed their long always used it a stop over heading for Scotland.
