Kids in bunks?

We've just bought an Eccles Amethyst with rear bedroom and were hoping to use the bunk above the rear double bed for our 17 month-old daughter. We are now unconvinced about the suitability of the rear bunk. Unless we can find a way to stop her falling out (the supplied boards seem insufficient) we will have to resort to giving her the rear bedroom to herself and making up the front L-shaped berth for ourselves every night.

Can anyone suggest a tried and tested solution?

I personally think she is a bit young to go in the bunk. What about one of you sleeping with her at the back if you do not wish to make up the L shape and the other one sleep on the front seating area? Make the L shape up intermittently when you feel the need!

I'm sure I've read on here about someone who made (or had made) a 'net' which clipped on to the top bunk to stop his toddler falling out. I'd try searching the forums for this posting if I were you - or someone else may come along and give you the proper information.

Here are two alternatives copied from other answers to similar queries:

1. If you dont get any satisfaction from your dealer, try Towsure.

I noticed in their new catalogue that they sell safty netting that hooks on the ceiling & the bunk bed to stop kids falling out of bed - Graham South Brum

2. Have a look at

Steve,

Just had a word with my other half and he believes that we have a minimum age recommendation on the use of our "put up" bunk. He believes it may be age 3 or 4. Might be worth checking any labels on the bunk or your caravan manual.
