Does anyone tow with a Mitsibishu L200 Animal. have been have a look at them and quite fancy one. prefer the Animal to the warrior as it has the engine upgrade and 18in alloys.

Del,

Know a guy who uses one on his farm and tows a big van and horsebox - he swears by it and even uses it to harrow his horse paddock.

Downside is that they have a harsh ride, specially unloaded and are very much a working vehicle, in spite of the posi looks.

My brother had a new Nissan pick up and got rid after 3 months as he said it had no lock and the ride was so hard it loosened all his fillings. Good if you are a builder and tow a van I'd say

I would agree with David. We used them to tow heavy cable drums to and from site, a feat that they accomplished admirally. As a work vehicle they are a good tool. I see the "eye candy" in them too, for a 4x4 they look the muts nuts, but as an everyday family transport they are a little unforgiving.

I was told that most vans warranty only covers non commercial tow vehicles. Not sure if this is true, but a consideration if your van is new. My experience of them is blooming uncomfortable and turning circle of several counties and not much good off road unless you have a ton of sand in the back!

id have to agree.my friend towed for a while with an l200 warrior an claimed it to be the worst towcar hed had in a while, with little power reserve for hillclimbing, high noise levels at 60mph and a ride similar to a transit van.the commercial suspension of the l200 is very stiff which can cause problems such as furniture becoming loose and even the caravan body moving on the chassis.another friend had a shogun sport warrior 2.5td and tells a similar story.its a shame because they do look fantastic, although like most eastern vehicles will probably date very quickly.sorry japanese car fans!

Pickups are poor towcars because they are designed for carrying loads on the flatbed and their suspension is set up accordingly to suit. If there is not enough weight on the back axle, the ride can be very choppy and you may have traction problems when towing, even with a 4 wheel drive. So, if you do have one and tow with it, always make sure that you've got a good payload on the back.

Hi Del

We tow with a Mazda B2500 pick-up. So far have not had any problems, but havn't used it very much as a tow car as we only bought the van in the summer. However so far so good. There are just the two of us and two large dogs, so everything mainly goes into the truck and not in the van. Thus keeping van weight as low as possible as there is a mover on the van which weighs quite abit. Yes the ride is bit bit harsh and the towing ride can be choppy at times, particularly at lower speeds. However dampers may solve the problem and we plan to fit them next year. You can hardly feel the van when towing and certainly havn't had any problem with traction yet, probably because the truck has all the clobber in it. Yes the turning circle is poor and its a large vehicle to drive on narrow lanes, but everyone else tends to get out of the way especially when the wife is driving, hehehe. When we have arrived at site, the back of the truck, which has a tonnau cover turns into the mobile dog kennel and the two spoilt dogs lounge about in comfort while watching everthing that goes on. The truck suits our way of life. We live up in the hills and the winter weather can be quite harsh so a useful vehicle to have, but may be a bit too basic for some folk. We couldn't afford an all singing all dancing 4x4 so to a certain extent we had to make do. Yes its noisy and hard on the fillings, but we love it.
