Hi,

We have been to both and they are, in my opinion, 6 and half a dozen. I personally think that El Delfin Verde has a better swimming pool complex, otherwise there is not much difference. Both are excellent sites with great facilities and spotlessly clean. We are going to El Delfin Verde in August for 2 weeks.

Hi - We have stayed at both - and without a doubt El Delfin Verde is the better site. We have been going back there for years. The main postives are - the swimming pool is much larger, the supermarket is open all day (Las Dunas supermarket is not). The pitches are larger at El Delfin as well. But I am sure you will have a great time wherever you stay. C x

I find it strange that up to last month's NEC show, both sites were represented on the same stand but only the virtues of Las Dunas were promoted. It fact E D V was given bad reviews by those who were supposed to be promoting both sites.

I wonder why they had seperate stands at the last show?

We are going to E D V for the third time this year and think it is a great site.

Having 'done' France once or twice a year for some years now, we thought we might sample Spain in Sep/Oct. Looking at the two sites mentioned, I was surprised to find that Las Dunas is not listed in the CC Europe 1 book (2006), at least, not under L'Escala. I am aware that the book depends on members sending in entries but given the size of the site (www.campinglasdunas.com/), I had expected to find an entry.

I have not been to Spain on holiday since a school trip to Lloret de Mar at the beginning of the sixties (!). Is the L'Escala and L'Estartit area worthy of a visit? I'm not interested in sitting on a beach as such, our interests lie in exploring old towns/villages, sampling local cuisine, walking and getting to know the culture.

Las Dunas may be listed under St Pere Pescador, that's it's postal address and yes there is lots to do in the area, Dali Museum and at a stretch Andorra are just two examples. You will enjoy it and if all else fails, France is only an hour away.

Hi - I can answer this question - the two campsites were meant to be run on the same stand - the campsites paid half the cost. However, El Delfin Verde soon realised that the people running the stand were only really representing Las Dunas (they are British Reps). So El Delfin Verde asked their own family to do the representing for the campsite. Hope this answers the question.

Stayed at Las Dunas for the past fifteen years, have friends who could not get it Las Dunas whe stayed at the other place, they hated it there and are now converts to Las Dunas.

Personally visited El Delfin last year, it was ok . but not even on par with Las Dunas.

My pitch at Las Dunas is 100 sq metres, the average at El Delfin 75 sq mtrs.

The supermarket opens at 08.00 untill 14.00 and 16.00 to 20.30

There again Las Dunas looks after 16,000 campers a day during July and August with no problems at all.

16,000 campers a day cant all be wrong, Trust me if you want a fun lively holiday Las Dunas has no rivals at all.

Keith, you will not have any trouble getting in either site in Sept October, they will both be quiet.

July August forget Las Dunas unless you booked last October.

I have a rugular pitch at Las Dunas and have been going there for years during July And August, We normally stay there for five weeks, my grown up Children who all work now, still fly out To Girona for there two week summer vacation, such is the pull of the place.

But you will get peace and quiet anywhere on the Costa Brava in September October, If thats what you want.

Hi

I have been reading all your comments about El Delfin Verde with interest. We would love to tryout this campsite as it would be our first visit to france with the caravan - could anyone please tell me how far it is once off the ferry and how long it would take us to get there. I have a young son who is 7 with special needs so we dont want to be travelling for hours once off the ferry.

Thanks in advance.

Paul

Hello Paul

It is about 800 miles from Calais.

We have done it in 2 days but is really hard work and very tiring. A DVD player keeps the kids quiet(ish) during most of the journey.
