Last week in Latvia looking for farms, churches and a graveyard all in the countryside. Classification for roads on the maps are paved (tarmac), gravel, improved unsurfaced and unsurfaced. Just as well my hire car still had winter tyres on because it did snow later.

We did find the farm where the wife's ancestors possibly lived in 1790 and the churches where her ancestors were baptised from 1840 and the graveyard, a very long story.

Road surfaces look quite good to me....
Based in Surrey we are used to potholes and uneven surfaces that would make an "expedition Land Rover" groan

And you think you have it bad in Surrey. Try Derbyshire where not only council ineptitude comes into play, but all the abandoned mine workings are now having an effect.

Great photos Tukums, it looks a very drab place though.

It was March, winter just over and it does look rather drab, but in summer time it is different again and there are some nice places to visit
