Hi I have a Swift Challenger 500SE and after the recent heavy rainfalls it has had dreadful water ingress. This has resulted in a trip back to the dealers for them to repair it. Firstly the trim along the top of the roof at the rear, after another week we discocvered runs down the door side wall on the inside. So again it went back to the dealers this time having the awning rail resealed. Van seems fine now but is this a common problem with this make?

Are there any other known problems with this van ?

It is not a common or known problem.

Can you send us an email with your van details and I will look into your case further.

I have a 2003 Sterling ( Swift Group) and it has always been completely dry and, infact, apart from noisy brakes (Alko),pretty well problem free. My reason for posting this was really to say how reassuring that Swift are looking at this forum and taking the initiative. I will be interested to know how you get on.... good luck.

Hi Ian I have a Swift Group Sterling Eccles Jewel 2003 & have had no problems at all with any warranty requirements. No damp showing at any of the service checks & still dry today despite the attrocious summer weather we've experienced. Yes Swift IMO are good & as Rod one says it's good to see them taking part in this Forum & showing an interest in comsumer problems.

i wish swift had taken an interest when i had our 2006 ace celebration 590 which is based on the equirry.

As most on here will now the van was so bad we only kept it 6 months and took a large financial loss to get rid of it. the van leaked through the door, one of the windows fell out on the motorway, all the cuboard hinges had to be replaced twice and failled again as we sold it, a water pipe conection came adrift and soaked the carpets and in france on one particularly wet night my wife went in to the bathroom and could not get back out as the roof had sagged under the weight of the water that had collected round the roof light and the bathroom door was jammed against the roof, i had to lift the roof to get her out and for the rest of the holiday the roof sat on the door. glossop caravans "fixed" the problem by shaving off the top of the door which to me was the final straw. the van was ditched and swift will never see my money again.

need any more proof swift do not care ?.

This thread was started nearly 3 weeks ago and we know that swift group post on the forum but they have not bothered to explain why our ace celebration was so poor or why so many other swift group products have warranty issues.

I cannot explain about your caravan unless I know the specific vehicle and case.

If you send me an email I can look into it. kpowell@swiftleisure.co.uk

Icemaker I got proof that Swift do care. I have had the unfortunate issue of a cracked front panel, which I posted about on this forum. Kath contacted me re this via the forum and I was told to contact her dept to get the problem sorted which I did. They contacted Highbridge caravans for me and got highbridge to contact me to book the van in.

I took the caravan to Highbridge last sturday and had a phone call yesterday to say the repaire was complete. Now thats what I call good sevice from a Dealer and manufacture.

I must point out however as I did not want a repair I will reject the repaired panel if I can in anyway see that it has been repaired and insist on a new front panel

I can understand what you beef is but I can only speak very highly of swift. This is now my 2nd swift product and will buy another when the time comes to change once again.

My 1998 swift Alouette is still done dry & leak free. Have I been lucky or did they just make 'em better in those days?

Swift will certainly get consideration next time I buy a caravan but at this rate the one i've got looks like it will last forever!!

BTW it gets used around 70 nights a year by a family of 4

Hi,

after a wet and windy winter I am pleased to confirm that we have had no more leaks or problems with the van and in fact it has proven to be the nicest tourer we have ever owned !

After the exterior was re-sealed we put a dehumidifier in the van for a week to remove moisture and this worked wonders on the wood in the cupboards.

I definitely think swift are the best make van for quality and value.

I have had a look at the new conqueror 540 and absolutely love it !

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Kath at Swift Group for her help.

Many Thanks

Ian
