i cant get the leisure battery to work on the caravan although battery is fine.when hooking up grey lead to car, power is getting through.

i think it may just be a fuse but have looked at fuses, and they all seem fine.

how would i know if a fuse has blown?

or any other suggestions.

hope that makes sense.

cheers in advance

Steven, the best way tocheck fuses is with a multimeter, use the continuity setting, and you should get a bleep if its ok.

Probably way off course, but just a thought, have you switched the battery switch from car to van? or dosent the avondale have such a switch on the control panel?

Hi Steven.

I have a 2000 Dart 510-5 There is a fuse quite close to the battery box, have you checked this one?. Also there are some relays under the front window area, these might be faulty. The fact the battery is ok hooked up to the car does not make any difference as regards the caravan electrics working in the van.

I suspect it is something quite simple and just have a good hunt around for blown fuses/poor connections etc. I dont know but there might even be a cut off switch between the battery and the caravan electrics?.

Best of luck. Nidge

Also have an Avondale and having problems with the battery -despite being hooked up for last fortnight it isn't recharging the leisure battery or so it says. Would be interested to hear of any ways of checking.

Thanks all.

We had problems with our 2005 dart special, found out the charger on van will not charge a flat battery, only maintain a charged one, recommend taking battery off and checking with a standard battery charger, once we did this we realised the battery was too low for the vans charger to have any effect, charged it fully off car charger(and bought a spare in case!) and have had no further problems
