I am still learning about this caravanning lark and have another question.

What's the best way or routine for leveling your caravan and what should I do if I go to a site with a sloping pitch.

First thing is to level the caravan so that the wheels are level, then from back to front using the jockey wheel. There is a triangular two way spirit level you can get very cheaply from dealers which we have fixed just inside the front window so it is easy to see when we get on site. If the left to right balance is out, use levelling blocks on the low side wheel. Do not use the corner steadies as that can damage them. Best put the blocks under the front so you can pull forward up on the blocks. Then chock the back of the wheel when level. When the left to right is ok, then use the jockey wheel to level the front to back.

Thanx, but how come I don't see people using leveling blocks?

I have the triangular ones, so I use these to get the left/right level. Do I just push the caravan on to them and pull the handbrake on ?

Depends how far from level the pitch is and your preferences. We use our shower, and I prefer to ensure it drains easily, so will angle the 'van slightly to help.If we are staying on a Caravan Club site and a hardstanding pitch, I often just pile up the hardstanding and park on this, but remember to smooth it back again as we leave.

I know I should get a life!

Hi

I use the yellow triangular ones as well, with the small blocks to chock behind. I simply place the large block in front of the wheel, pull forward, handbrake on and then small block behind the wheel. If you get a choice, it is easier if you pitch the caravan so that the slope of the site is front to back.
