if your car and caravan exceeds the 100% and you hold a class 1 hgv licence. this allows you to go over that limit,is this true

For clarification of the permitted outfit weights you must refere to the details on YOUR licence, and the latest information published by the DoT.

Your outfit must always conform to the binding limits set by the manuafcures, and the limits of your licence (which ever is lower).

Colin, I do not know about HGV licence but it stands to reason that they can, otherwise no artic would be on the road. I am not recommending that you tow a caravan that exceeds 100% but a standard driving licence with groups B + E allows you to tow over 100%.
