just visited this site and I have to sa wow, it was so clean you would think your mum ran it. The toilet/ shower block was like new and the pitch was huge. I will return to this site and would definately say you should use it if you are going to the Derbyshire Dales

this site was recommended to me a few days ago and i have booked it for the weekend in three weeks time, its not too far to travel for us and the web site does look fantastic, the reviews that the site has received on caravansites.co.uk are very positive we could not find one negative comment. the reception staff where very polite when i rang to book they required no deposit and the site is open all year. cant wait to see if it is as good as it appears and will post my opinion when i return.

Ooh great, we've also booked to go there for a week in a couple of weeks time (from the 19th). It's a pity we'll just miss each other Icemaker, we could have said hello and shared a little tipple or so.!

We've got a deluxe pitch as well but I'm not sure what special equipment we will need to make use of the facilities on these type of pitches. Can anyone advise?

Hi Jane, sorry i work on the railways and class each of my weekends as a week, its to do with how my rest days fall confusing to others but i know what i mean. anyway what this means is we will be on site at the same time as we are arriving on friday 18th november although we will only be staying untill sunday, we are also on the delux pitches which i thought where better suited since they are only 1.50 a night more.

To be honest unless you want to spend 50 quid on a mains water pipe then you will have every thing you need your mains hook up lead and your aqua roll as usuall, its just convenient to have all the services grouped together on your pitch, some will go the full hog and have the water and waste permanently conected to the pitch but to us its just too much hassle and more weight to carry. see you on site, best wishes Gary (icemaker).

I know the area and lickpenny it started 4 years ago and has been growing since.

Your easiest way is directly of the A38 at Alfreton.

Yes it is a very good site we stop there 4 time in the last 1 and half years. Very clean site and all the Picher are roomy the people who run it are very helpful as well.

It's the only privet run site that we go to. We sit with the caravan club rest of the time.

It's only an hour a way for use to get there. All ways look forward to going .

Having just stayed there, heres the brief on the delux pithces and site in general.

On Arrival there is a fairly large car park which doubles as the late arrivals area if you arrive to late to pitch. There is a coded barrier on the entrance and exit to the main site. The reception / shop is next to the barrier and I found the staff exceptionally friendly, I explained it was my first ever trip with the van and they said to feel free to come and ask for help if I had trouble siting the van. I followed their directions up to pitch 10a which was one of the deluxe pitches and frankly with the size of the pitch if I couldnt have got the van in it I think I would have given my licence back as well as selling the van. The pitch had mains water and mains electric. Had I have had a long enough waste pipe I could have dropped that into the drain and not needed to use the wastemaster (another item to buy I suppose). To get to the toilet block from the delux section you can walk down the round and round but as you face down from the delux area there is an arch in the hedgerow over on the right hand side, go through that and you are at the toilet / shower block. The whole site was spotless and the shower/toilet block was an example to all.

If all sites were like this everyone would be towing a van.

I will let you know next week tony as we are supposed to be going tommorow for the weekend, bit unsure if we will make it yet as my car went in to the dealers ten days ago for a safety recall and hasn't run since, seems the car has a gremlin that even seat technical can't find. as its only four month old it may just be on the verge of being rejected but the dealer who we bought it off has gone bust so i feel a little sorry for lookers seat who have been left to pick up the pieces.

Icemaker,

That's spooky - I was just typing a post asking if you were still going at the weekend. I was going to ask what your outfit is so that we could look out for you and say hello.

Hope you do manage to get there, we were looking forward to meeting. Might the garage have a courtesy car they could lend (one that pulls your van that is)?

just been on to the garage now and they are having real problems with the car, see my post on towcars. will probably still make it though as my parents are also going to lickpenny with us so i can go with them then borrow theire tow car to get my van up to matlock. its a lot of messing about but we dont want to loose a weekend away. mum and dad have a coachman pastiche and we have a ace celebration 590 so we will be easy to spot. see you soon gary.
