Life = 13 years

A man has just been found guilty of 3 counts of murder. For hammering to death a mother, daughter and son the judge passed three life sentences on him recommending that he serves at least 38 years. Now by my reckoning that doesn't even equate to 13 years for each life sentence.

He will be out sooner than that though once the human rights lawyers argue, at our expense, that he is a changed man and has repented after seeking Jesus, Allah, Buddah,Mickey Mouse or whoever else is in vogue at the time.

LB I agree with 100% ...... and ..... the offence of Rape carries a maximum penalty of Life Imprisonment but how often is that sentence given out ?

I refer you to my posts in the Kate Beagley murder thread.

Dead / imprisoned criminals don't make (as much) money for the lawyers.

Tho' having said that i recall them making shed loads getting a posthumous pardon for the "let him have it" murderer.

Elected judges and no maximum sentences. IMO the way forward.

That's why the prisons are full to bursting,Colin. They're putting the wrong people away and letting the ones who should be locked up, off with non-custodials.
