Load assisters

have any members recently fitted such beasts, and are they any good, do they do what it says on the package, or would they be a waste of time and money.

especially interested in anyone who has fitted these to a Vauxhall Vectra 2.2 150 sri ??

Unless you've got an older car where the springs are starting to show signs of old age I wouldn't bother. After all, you can't load the back end of the car down any more than fully laden so if you haven't had any problems with the boot full, it can't be worse with the caravan hitched up.

Fully laden is fully laden, whether the 78kg are in the boot or noseweight on the towball.

I fitted a set of MAD springs to the rear of my MK5 Golf, and it definately improved the towing, it feels more solid with less pitching.

Back in the old Peugeot 405 days MAD spring assisters were essential, and were very effective. Those rubber bits you wedge between the coils are a lot cheaper, but doesn`t stop the springs becoming coil-bound, they just mean you run out of travel earlier.

Does the SRi have stiffer suspension as the older ones used to or is it just a trim level? If it`s the former, I`d definately leave my wallet in my pocket.
