It's a short drive to Loch Ness from Inverness CC site so unless you want to sit on the banks of the Loch 24/7 clutching your camera and a photo rights contract , you may find that's a good base. I haven't been to Inverness for a few years but last time there visited the Culloden battlefield ( who doesn't I guess) and Fort George which I had never heard of but is an amazing place to visit. The shopping in Inverness is good as well!

Re sites at Loch Ness

Torvean Caravan site on the banks of the Caledonian Canal is ideal. It is situated just off the main road that runs from Inverness down the side of Loch Ness.Haven't stayed there in recent years as it was getting pricey but it was a well kept site, level, with spotless toilet facilities. Inverness is an easy 15 minute walk away and the Loch Ness Cruise boats start from across the road. There is also a large Leisure Centre with swimming pool only 5 minute walk away. There is also a municipal caravan site near the leisure centre but it can become very busy, noisey and untidy.

Hope this information will be of help to you.

RE Loch Ness camping and caravan park,

I stayed on this site a couple of years ago, it's a long narrow site right on the bank of the loch. Try to get a pitch away from the bar as there are a few pitches right next to it where I was pitched, it's not a noisy bar but you feel very overlooked. Take lots of insect repellent the midgies are rife but it's a beautiful site with stunning views and well worth a stay.
