We only stopped for 2 nights as we were visiting family in Plymouth . Nice site and it had a pool that was full of kids. Outside Looe up hill set amongst field and open country side.

If you walk the dogs on costal paths there are some steep drops and cliffs around the area, TAKE NOTE!

The CC 360 veiw is shows the site pretty well and you can get a clear zoom in view on Google Earth if you put in the post code PL13 1PB

Looe can be rather manic in Summer and you leave the car and walk in to crowded streets. Seaton, Downderry,Portwrinkle, Crafthole etc are great little places to explore and you should enjoy the pubs if you are into that.

If the sumer Ferr from Cawsand is running to Plymouthit a great way to approach the city past the Plynouth Breakwater that you realise is huge when you are are up close.

A wander around the Plymouth Barbican and the Mayflower steps and a snack from Cap'n Jaspers and a Cuppa should make a good day.

Try and take a look at Robert Lenkiewicz ( Probaly Britains Greatest Artist or recent times) wall in the Barbican Area. Sadly its in poor repair due to a stupid city council. But still worth a look last time I saw it.

Also a visit to http://www.mountedgcumbe.gov.uk/ is a good one.

Hi cris

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure if the area is right for us, it seems a bit out on a limb. We normally stop around Bodmin which is central for most places with good road access to main towns in Cornwall. The site looks ok (I have booked it but can cancel). I fancy Penzance this year and the coast is spectacular around there and after doing a search on 'dogs allowed on beaches' there seems to be more beaches around the Penzance area rather than the Looe area. I can feel a booking cancellation coming on.

Pity the Looe campsite is not in Penzance!

Stayed at Looe a couple of year ago and it is a lovely site well up to CC site standards plenty to see in surrounding area. Only negative side was they did not appear to be many walks where our lab could have a good run off the lead. As Chris says the coastal path, stunning as it is its just to dangerous to let the dog off the lead. Stayed at the Willingcott site last year in north Devon and that was great for dog, with even part of the beach at Woolacombe allowing dogs.

Thanks Richard. I don't let my dogs off the lead anymore unless they are in an enclosed area.

Do you know anything about he Penance area? We stopped near there many years ago. But I can't remember much about it.

Lets just say that Looe area is ideal motor cycling area in Summer, as that way you can get around!

You can use the road from the Torpoint ferry past Seaton but not for the faint hearted with a caravan behind!

Its a great area but you are little out on a limb. I guess most local head for Plymouth for a "big shop". It's a dangerous bit of coast between Looe and Plymouth.

Well worth a visit to the areas mentioned but I would only do a few days there!

My brother in-law goes to Penzance with their Caravan. I've just Skyped him in Malmo.

He likes small quiet sites by choice, he said to look at

Lower Pentreath Caravan and Campsite

Praa Sands

Penzance

Cornwall

TR20 9TL

Very small, Quiet and friendly near Praa sands / short walk!

or try www.trevairtouringpark.co.uk

inland about three miles or so from coast. Quite pretty site not to big and well spaced and still quite quiet.

The CC site at Marazion, only a few miles from Penzance, is a nice site with a dog walk across the lane. It has no shower block though so it's cheaper.
Thanks Lord B, that would be perfect for me and the boss but unfortunately, due to the fact that the child can spend upto an hour at a time in the shower, we won't be able to use that site.
