We have booked for two weeks at Pear Tree Farm site in Sandford, Nr. Wareham. Lovely clean quiet site - nothing there for children but village pub is only a short walk down road where children are welcome and also good pub food. The site is spotless and very reasonable -

M&M, Lookout is on South side of Wareham and only a gentle stroll to the town centre. It is the gateway to the Purbecks with Corfe Castle & Swanage an easy drive. The Swanage Steam Railway runs from Wareham ( but not the Network Rail station yet) to Swanage. Monkey World and Bovington Tank Museum are nearby at Wool and Weymouth is also an easy drive but I suggest a family ticket on the train from Wareham to Weymouth as no parking problems.

Poole is not far and fireworks and entertainment on Thursday nights on the Quay. As has been said Dorset is not Blackpool but if the weather is kind then a great place for a family holiday.

for more info www.resort-guide.co.uk then enter Dorset.
