Low Manesty is a lovely wooded site. Unfortunately I never saw the red squirrels but were told they are higher in the tree canopy this time of year. If you have a dog theres lots of dog walks thereabouts but the best is the one on site. Go through the gate leading to Derwent Water and the view is breathtaking. Looking down Derwent Water, then the other way up Borrowdale is in my opinion better than any view the Scottish Highlands can throw up. If driving to Keswick turn right outside the gate for spectaclar views, the road is narrow but theres no problems. If going to the Lakes again I will certainly go there. For those who don't like using their caravans facilities it's a no no. No shower/toilet block. It certainly scores 10/10 for me. :O)

The site at Low Manesty can be a nightmare to get to.Going through the village of Grange with parked vehicles on narrow roads makes manoeuvering tricky.

Maybe you were lucky when you went through with your flunkeys clearing the riff raff out of the way so that you could proceed in your limo with the blacked out windows )

Its each to their own I suppose Maureen, we all have our preferences for what constitutes beauty. For me its the hills covered in broad leaf, deciduous trees rather than bleak hillsides or hillsides covered in virtually sterile conifers or heather. The Borrowdale landscape wins everytime for me, not only for the greenery, but it also holds more wildlife. :O) I have to admit the road is narrow, especially over the double humpback bridge at Grange but it didn't cause me any problems thanks to my good chum, Lord Cavendish of Borrowdale. It certainly wouldn't deter me from going back, unlike the Foresty site at Beddgelert, I would have to think long and hard before going there again.
