The person that bought Lunar Caravans also bought a soap making company from administration that for many years had employed registered blind persons. He’s now being investigated for possible pension fraud, and non payment of staff when they were supposedly furloughed. The soap making company are now in liquidation. Don’t see any way back for Lunar, unfortunately.

A while back I as sure I read similar regarding Lunar which was supposed to be taken over by a subsidiary of a "well known" South African company. Except the SA company does not seem to be very well known in South Africa?

I too read a SA Engineering company purchased whatever was left of Lunar. Are they operating in the U.K. Clive? I think most Lipinar owners know they stand alone

I did a google .za search and also asked on the SA 4x4 forum if anyone had heard of the company and it was a negative so it may be a SA paper company that does not physically exist?

From the link (BBC) in my above post there isa link reporting that the new owner of Lunar had not paid staff, or furlough etc, plus another company gets a negative report too. So as you say Lunar owners are on their own. Although I had read that a number of Lunar dealers were planning to work together inorder to support owners.

Thanks for the bed time reading.
This is nearly three years old
Trading under the new name of Lunar Automotive, the company has become part of MEWA, a South African specialist engineering group. MEWA was founded by Cecil Marks and has a strong pioneering heritage in the stainless-steel industry.

Lunar Automotive director Nicholas Marks said, “The MEWA group has been involved in specialist engineering and component manufacture for 100 years.

Try and find any info on the MEWA Group as it does not seem to exist.

It was one thing getting an award in court but another actually getting paid. The whole thing turns into a farce and I doubt the money was forthcoming. The actions taken by the new owners did suggest that they had intended in actually making caravans and the Covid problems simply overtook them, but does not excuse what apparently happened after that.
