Whilst viewing caravans at a large dealership during the Bank Holiday the salesman stated that the MIRO of the ACE caravan has changed and now includes the battery and tne gas+bottles. But not the kitchen equipement, food, clothes etc. I always understood that neither the gas nor the battery were included.

New one on me that, but obviously the salesman would know/ wouldn`t lie would he?

If you`re interested in one, I`m sure the salesperson will supply you with such a statement on Company headed paper, just in case he is `mistaken` and you have cause to require a refund at a later date if you have been inadvertently misled.

There is a difference in definition of MIRO between UK and some continental manufacturers.

UK manufacturers don't normally include essential items like battery, gas cylinders, contents of water and toilets in their calculation of MIRO.

Some but not all European manufactures include these items in the MIRO.

Apart from delivery from factory to dealer, a caravan would never again be as light as the UK MIRO convention so I suspect that once again the continentals have got it right.

Unlike cars and other motor vehicles, there is no standard definition of MIRO for caravans. It is up to each manufacturer to decide what they want to include in the MIRO for a caravan. The Continental manufacturers tend to follow the definition as it applies to cars. If a caravan has an onboard water tank, for example, they include water inside.
