Hi all
I just need to put my mind a rest I recently bought a bailey ranger gt60 520/4 as their is not a weight bridge near by (so its pen and paper and weighing what go's in) I am trying to work out how best to pack the van regarding weight the question is did bailey take in to account and add into the miro the add extras they put on the gt60 series , alloy's, microwave shocks, radio ,door screen spare wheel and carrier. I am thinking they did up the miro on the gt60 to take them in to account if not it doesn't leave me wiggle room
Thanks
Tom

Hello Tom,
The question of what's included in MIRO is open to interpretation. Each manufacturer may have their own list, so it will be best to put your question to the manufacturer.

However MIRO and Kerbweights are not necessarily very accurate, this is due to manufacturing tolerances. The problem you may face is if you are loading up close to the caravans MTPLM which is a strict limit and has no tolerance. If your calculations suggest you are within 3 to 5% of the MTPLM, I think you need to consider finding a weighbridge even if it means making a special journey to get to it.

Thanks profjohnl
The reason for the question on baileys web site the standard ranger 520/4 miro is 1063kg the gt60 version is 1121kg and from what I can gather from what bailey are saying ( "ranger gt60 models include the following additional items of equipment as standard " ), so it is my understanding what they have added to the gt60 series alloys , spare wheel, mounted spare carrier and microwave etc must be included in the miro
Thanks
Tom

Hello again Tom

The danger of making an assumption about what's included is that if you may end up thinking you have more capacity than you actually do. If you then use up that suspect capacity with your personal items, you could easily find you are overloading your caravan - which has legal implications points on licences, loss of insurance. Is it worth the risk?

It is far better to contact the manufacturer direct and ask then what is included for your specific model of caravan, rather than relying on what could be inaccurate assumptions made based on other models which may not be the same as yours.

Forums can be great source for ideas, but you should never accept what your told on them without doing some homework just to check if it makes sense and complies with the law.

We have some very fine contributors on this forum who are indeed highly knowledgeable, but because of the way forums provide anonymity to contributors, readers have absolutely no way knowing which are good from those that are not so good, or indeed those that should be avoided.

Some contributors may offer opinions but without realising it they may be using incorrect information on which to base their views, and its a sad fact if life these days that some people seem to take great delight in infiltrating forums and deliberately spreading misinformation.

The trick is to read what been posted and then find ways to check its validity before acting on it.

just had Bailey reply to my questions
it looks like they have included every thing in to the miro on the gt60 series spare wheel and under slung carrier, microwave, shocks, radio, fly screens, alko secure lock even down to the chopping board and carpets pity they didn't include the gas bottles with the missus knowing that she will no doubt fill it with even more with stuff we never use (but just in case stuff ) :woohoo:
