Hello all,

We too are looking for our first caravan, the problem is I have a Peugeot 3008 1.6 HDI Active II, and so need something very light. However I have got conflicting advice as to what the 85% value is.....any help would be appreciated! My stats are...
Kerb weight 1497
Gross train weight 3130
Braked trailer (Within GTW limit) on gradient 1100
Braked trailer (with load transfer with the GTW limit) 1300

So I make 85% kerb weight as 1272, but is the max really 1100 or 1300?

Thanks

Not sure where the information you have came from but if it is the current model Peugot's towing limit figures are 1400 for the manual version and 1300 for the automatic. If it is an earlier model the correct figures should be in the handbook and VE23.

Thanks Raywood, it's a 2013 manual the numbers were from the handbook, it's not easy to decipher, so my confusion is between the 1100 and 1300 numbers as I don't understand what load transfer refers to.

I must say I am baffled. The GTW is normally the difference between the maximum laden weight of the car and the towing limit. but Peugeot are one who do give it differently with the Maximum laden weight and towing limit adding up to more, so you have to make allowances for that. What do Peugeot give as the maximum laden weight for the car as you should be able to tow at least the difference between that and the GTW?
The GTW is usually based on the ability of the car to restart the weight five times on a 12% hill which sounds like the first figure with the second being over the GTW bur exactly what I am not sure.
It may be you will need to ask Peugot if no one on here knows.

NO, the Gross Train Weight (GTW) is the sum NOT the difference. :)

My mistake I hope it did not confuse the OP.
