I have been looking to fit a motor mover to my T@B caravan. It has an Al-Ko chassis but it seems it cant be done using conventional movers.
What are my options regarding hitch movers? The caravan is light (800kgs laden) but my back is dodgy! Has anyone used one such as Supermover etc.

Hi Monganic,

Damian is right a Powrtouch Compact should fit OK. I needed a mover for my Rapido Club Pop Up she weighs around 950kgs loaded, which doesn’t have a lot of space under the floor, being low to the ground and not such a deep chassis as a standard fixed van.
After much searching on the net I contacted Paul at Yorkshire Caravan Movers Ltd http://yorkshirecaravanmovers.co.uk/index.html you can even ring Paul up till 8pm. I gave Paul the measurements of my chassis etc and he advised the Powrtouch Compact, very helpful and so was his price and he knows his onions.
Best price I found on the net no one could touch him for price or service, so Tuesday evening I ordered the mover over the phone, today (Fri 1st Mar) up rolled the mover 4 days later direct from Powertouch, great service and the price included free shipping. So my advice is get in touch with Paul, he will soon get you sorted.
Hitch movers are OK had one, but not that easy on site when you want to position your van, you have to take this with you and they can be quite heavy and unless you get a big heavy machine smaller ones will struggle on say wet grass. But with a mover that drives the van wheels piece of cake, well I have that pleasure to look forward to. If you have a dodgy back, my misses has one to so bad I dare not let her help me position the van which is why I bought the Compact, then if you can go for the Compact, I’m sure Paul will get you up and running in no time very impressed and satisfied with the servcie I had.
Good luck and hope this helps..
Ian.

Hi Damien and Pulsynetic
Thank you for the replies.
Damien
Can you recall if it was a T@B 320 or the 400. The 320 is the smaller one. I have heard of movers being fitted to the 400. Did you fit to front or rear of the wheels and what model Powrtouch was it please. Have tried numerous fitters with no joy. Some think I am mad others have never heard of a T@B
Thanks again

Why not simply ring and ask one of the UK TAB importers. I find Southdowns a helpful company:

Hi Morganic,
It was a 320 and fitted in front of the wheels.
All the T@B vans have 15 inch wheels giving the same clearance underneath.
It was a Powrtouch Compact unit.

Although more expensive, the Al-Ko Mamut fits inside the chassis rail, if they are stilll available,,,I have not heard much about them lately though.

Hi Damien
Thanks for info.
Did you have to use additional brackets to the chassis or was it a simple fit? I have someone else with a T@B interested and also someone mentioned on this forum now so would love any further info you can give because I have met a brick wall with most fitters and T@B suppliers. The ALko Mammut seems to be still available but very expensive The Powrtoch compact woulkd fit the bill Im sure
Many thanks
