After 11 years of caravanning I purchased a new motorhome in January 2017. Which part of the parking area do you park your motorhome? My motorhome is 6mtrs long so on most car parking areas would take two spaces lengthways.Of course I have in the past parked if I can reverse into a space on the edge of the car park with a level grassed area where I can reverse a couple of feet over the kerb and so fit into one car parking space.

For a 6 metre van, overhanging a bit of grass should enable you to fit. Otherwise, in the absence of designated "Motorhome" spaces I've usually gone in the "Caravan" area (since UK law and rules tends to regard us as such - eg the Caravan Sites Act).

Hi Bob
Go to my new website www.park-my-motorhome.co.uk where page shows the motorway services and where to park. Tell me of your services you have visited so I can add them.

If you park your six metre motorhome in a caravan bay, where am I supposed to park my 10 metre caravan outfit?
Caravan parking is for CARAVANS.

I think you'll find that all of the motorway service areas owned by the likes of Moto, Roadchef, Welcome Break etc and the Highways Agency expect motorhome owners to use either the caravan, coach or HGV parking areas. There is no binding legislation governing either and one cannot dictate to the other.

I think you will find that we are all equally entitled to use these spaces, my own Motorhome is 7m bonnet to bumper plus bike rack makes it over 7.5m.

These leisure are classed as 'motor caravans' and as such the spaces are intended for both vehicle types ... let's share the roads and parking spaces courteously and with due consideration ??

It is acceptable for motorhomes as well as caravans to park in 'caravan' parking spaces as stated by most service areas. There are some service areas where there are long spaces for caravans and motorhomes as well as shorter spaces for campers and the like, all of which have extra width that is needed for both motorhomes and caravans. There is never enough spaces during the main holiday period and it is a case of 'first come first served'. The real culprit is the motorists who park car only in these spaces.
