hello flowerpot46,
the problems of engaging the rollers can be many things. as the adjustment is finite, and can be effected by a multitude of different attributes, over inflation is one as it then becomes too hard to deflect the tyre tread, against the internal pressure. changing tyres of a different diameter does the same, first thing to check is the pressure.
next check the clearance of the roller to the tyre in the rest position this should be 1in or 25mm and can be done by using a chock of wood the right thickness pushed between the roller and the tyre tread.
assuming you have used the mover before and it was fine, there must now be something different from last time you used it so think of what has changed.
OH, and welcome to the forum by the way :silly:

I don't think that over inflation is the problem If it was working ok previously and you haven't had new tyres fitted ?.

Try taking the socket off of the leverage bar and turn it round one flat face only ( 90deg ) I have found that if the socket / bar is not at the lowest point to start the twisting action, it can't be completed and it won't lock onto the tyres as the bar end touches the floor before it locks into place. .

Sproket hit the nut on the head.
I sometimes find due to ground clearance the wrench lever doesn't quite go " over the top" and engage.
If you have the cross actuation system check all the shaft nuts and bolts are tight and correctly positioned.

To correct a couple of points.
The distance of the rollers to the tyre on a single axle van should be 20mm, on a twin axle van, 15mm.

Second point about the comment "go for electric actuation", Don't bother, it causes more trouble than they are worth. Manual actuation is better, less to go wrong
