We have already bought our tickets for this event, but it will be our first visit ever. How much time should we allow to get parked, reach the entrance etc., therefore having as much time as possible inside the show? Any advice welcome please.
Hi Parksy, Thank you so much for all the helpful information.Hi Janet
There are often speed restrictions on the M42 leading to the NEC with overhead average speed detectors and there can be queues from the motorway island going in to the NEC.
From the island follow the signs for free parking and there will be bus stops for the free shuttle bus to the exhibition hall doors. Remember which car park you are in for the shuttle back to your car.
Don't be put off by what seems like long queues for the free bus,you won't be waiting very long at all.
I'd say allow 20 to 30 minutes to exit the motorway and enter the show if there is a lot of traffic but I've done it in less than ten minutes out of the peak rush hour..
There is a cloakroom on the right before you enter the main hall where you can leave coats, bags with packed lunches etc. The trick is to take a fairly large bag to stuff everything in so that only one payment for bag storage is needed ;o) This also comes in handy if you buy things from the stalls at the exhibition. Off the large entrance lobby is a flight of steps with a lift and ramp. This leads to an area of free seating, tables etc where you can get a much needed cuppa (or a pint!)at lunchtime. There is a newsagent, tea stall and a Wetherspoons there. If you leave the exhibition hall to sit down for lunch the security staff put a stamp mark on your hand to indicate that you have paid ( a bit like the youth clubs many moons ago!)
Enjoy the show.
