Hello

Has anyone had the pleasure of seeing the Audi Q7 up close yet?Its huge, longer than an Amazon,do you think thats getting too big with our roads and car parking spaces?Powerful diesel as well, probably a very good tow car?

I saw one in Holland on Friday being driven to a dealers. Attracted by the white plastic transit covering and no plates, It looks like a lardy monster, viewed at first front on over cars from my RH drive and not seeing the grill I thought it was an American monster pickup truck.

Not keen on present Audi styling I wouldn't touch one, I guess the green brigade will be picketing dealers and school mums in welthy areas when they see one.

You can see here how the imposing front view is.

It's a bit of a monster to me. No real need for anything quite as big but if you like that sort of thing ............

I think the Q7 is a really ugly machine and the third row of seats is very cramped indeed, leaving no room for luggage. There is a great video of the Q7 on the "MyTouareg" website, which shows the Q7 being towed out of a muddy field in Sussex - a flat field, at that... and it got stuck.

I'm very (and I mean VERY!) pleased with my VW Touareg 3.0l V6 TDi and this engine is shared with the Q7. It is an amazing tow-car with oodles of power and the weight provides fantastic stability towing my twin-axle Senator Louisiana.

The new Mercedes R Class is one exceptionally nice vehicle and will also make a great tow-car. I'll be looking more closely at it when it comes time to change my Touareg.

The maximum permissible towload for the Mercedes R-Class is (only) 2100kg - enough for any caravan but if you're considering towing other, heavier types of trailer, you'll have to stay with your Touareg.
