I am thinking of purchasing a Elddis Avante 2 berth or a Coachman Amara 2 berth. I would be interested to hear if anyone has had any of these in the past.

Hi, we have an Eldis Avante, but a six berth not a two berth. We like it, and prefer the Winterhoff hitch to the Alko we had on our last van (once we got used to it). However, the Avante is the mid range van and, whilst we have had no faults everything is a bit, ...lightweight. I'm not complaining, we really like the van, but I suspect the Coachman is more solid.

Like Mel we're six berth not two but from the Coachman camp. Have previously owned compass's but at the moment we're on our third Coachman and it would take a lot to sway me to another brand. Not only is the customer service from Coachman second to none if you do have a problem but the vans are much more solid inside than most other uk vans. At the end of the day towcar choice often puts people off the Coachman because they are a bit heavier but the reasons for this are obvious when looking around (in my opinion)

We have had both makes and there is no doubt the Coachman was better built but had very little trouble with either. The downside to Coachman is the weight which was one reason why we bought the Eldiss.
