Just caught a few minutes of "The Caravan Show" on Sky. It looked a million times a better programme than "Caravan Sights", T.Vs last (abysmal) attempt at a programme about caravanning.

Safe journeys,

Barney.

I watched it too last night and agree with you Barney. The programme might be worth watching to see how it matures. Much better than the caravan sites one which was naff and tacky to say the least.

I have to agree with Steve " see how it matures " and John G " quite good ". The item on water carriers featured two more suitable for tenting - and would you really leave a youngster to drag a 'jerry can ' style container back to the 'van ? Also the suggestion that you could wash out an Aquaroll with washing up liquid seemed odd. How many rinses would be needed to get rid of the taste ? All told I felt that it was hosted and produced by a team which had really not had a lot of caravanning experience but perhaps the programme will improve with time.

By contrast the programme following on Canal Boating was fronted by a canal boat owner and seemed to be rather more informed on the subject.

I agree about the washing of the water container with soap was wrong. The small child to carry large water containers I think that was the lighter side of the program. In past experiences my children used to fight for the biggest and heaviest item to carry so let them do it.

Watched last night's programmes. Doesn't seem too bad could do with some of Carl Rogerson's fine acting though.

Good to see some celebrity 'vanners in the first prog, that sought of thing will raise our hobby's profile ( er not Wayne Rooney though)

When is it on and what channel? I can't see any ref to it.

One of my favourite programs is "Waterworld" on Discovery Home & Liesure (but I think they have changed the name recently) which is on at the weekend as two half hour slots at 6:30 to 7:30 and repeated on the "+1" repeater channel an hour later.

Timothy West pressents an excellent program on UK Waterways, narrow boats etc. There is some coverage of the French waterways but mainly due to the coverage of two English narrowboats travelling there. One actually sailed accross the channel under its own power.

Looked like absolute madness. The program for me is an excellent way to start each day of the weekend.

They had a bit on the Carraboat the other week that was made some years ago and was a caravan that doubled as a boat. They reckonned there were 14 of them left.
