We are about to buy a new tv for the caravan.

I am looking for a 16" one, most seem to have freeview. I have got the sat kit(Maplins) but only had it working once which was luck and not since.

Does the freeview work with the old circular aerial on the caravan roof or do I have to buy some other type assuming I cannot get the satellite to work properly.

Any advice will be welcome no matter how obvious.

Thank you

Alex

Steve is right but if the Freeview signal is poor, you are always better off with a directional aerial on some sort of pole. Point your aerial in the direction of aerials on local houses or the site warden. Check whether it needs to be vertical or horizontal too. Bear in mind Freeview will be a more powerful signal after the switch over date.

Hi it all depends if you are touring europe or just the UK as most TV that you buy in the UK will not work in europe. Avtex is one that works in all countrys, bit exspensive but trouble free and has a built in DVD.

One thing that is often overlooked is how you view the TV when in the 'van. Many LCD panel TVs go dark very quickly when you get below the centre line - and sadly most of the cheaper sets do it. I spent a lot of time looking around before I found something suitable. Think: will the TV be high up compared with your sitting or reclining position? If you see one switched on in a shop, rather than getting down on your knees just hold the sides of the set and tilt it backwards. Can you still see the correct (positive) picture?

Check out the Sharp Aquos L19D1E. They cost near

we have freeview works fine with our status arial even recieve setanta sports with the card & chanel 5.....as regards tuning the satelite dish you should have a signal finder within the kit this omits a loud beeping noise the louder it gets the better the signal, however i do know plenty of people who just use the standard arial attatched to a pole at the jockey wheel make sure you use a digital arial though, good luck
