Hi everyone. I am looking at buying a new van, I haven’t done any caravan holidays since I was a child with my parents (who had a 1977 cavalier). I remember it always being a fuss making the beds every night. I have 2 boys, 12 and 9 and want to get a couple of years old n a van before they are any older.

I am looking at the following:
Elddis Crusader Tempest
Elddis Avante 868(or Chatsworth)
Bailey Pegasus Amalfi GT75
Swift Challenger Grande 670SE
Compass Casita 868

With the fixed bed and bunks. They say sleeping pods for the kids, just wondering if anyone has these vans and if the kids are ok in the bunks? I am also wondering what the main differences are in these vans. They look very similar on paper but there is about a 10k difference from the Bailey Amalfi to the Elddis Tempest…

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Your kids are getting to the age where the bunks may be unsuitable, especially the 12 year old.

We have one bunk in our Adria Adora Seine which pulls down. We don't use it but it has a weight limit. So check on the vans your interested in if there's a weight limit.

Go to dealerships where they have similar configurations and take the off spring with you. Post them into the bunks and see how well they fit and how much growing room there is. The 12 year old is going to shoot up ( and get grumpy) over the next year to 18 months. There is no substitute for trying them out. You may want to consider a model that has single fixed beds.
