Hi everyone,

Thinking of buying asecond hand van approx £5000 to spend. I drive a bme series 525 diesel auto. Wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to a suitable 4 berth van. I used to own a caravn many years ago when our children were much younger but sold it about 10 years ago. Thanks for any info you provide.

Hi John and welcome to the forum.

Once you have found out the weight your tow car can safely tow, then comes the enjoyable bit!

You mentioned you want a 4 berth and lots of 4 berths now come with fixed beds, which saves having to make the bed up every night. The best thing is to get out looking at various layouts to find one that suits your needs, as there are lots of things to be considered.

Swift are the market leaders and their caravans are well designed inside and out. Swift were the first company to participate on this forum to answer questions and we have found their customer service to be excellent.

If you buy privately, don't forget to do a CRIS check to make sure the caravan has not been stolen and view the caravan at a home address and not meet in a layby somewhere. If you buy from a dealer, make sure it is serviced before you take it away, and get the customer copy of the service sheet, which, amongst other things, will show that a damp test has been done and the tyres have been checked.

Good luck in your hunt!
