Hello everyone, just wanted to say hello. Bought a caravan last year, but have only used it a couple of times. Planning on going away for a short break up to brecon in May. Bought a Europa 550ek 1995 last year, which suits myself, husband and 3 year old well. Have a 17 year old also but he has decided that he doesnt want to go caravanning!!!( think his actual words were " I wouldnt be seen dead in a caravan" Lol)
Very excited and have been sorting out the van the last week, checking everything is working ( water whale broke so that had to be replaced).
We have recently purchased a porch awning after attempting to erect our full awning last year and after 3 1/2 hours it still looked wonky!!! We put that up yesterday and even though they say it should take 2 people 5 mins it took us a little longer, but much better than the full one.
I have even been sitting in ithe caravan in the drive way having a cup of coffee, my work colleagues think I have gone mad.
Is this normal behaviour for a woman who is not quite in her 40's yet!!
Anyway just wanted to say hello and introduce myself a little.

Hello Sally and welcome to the Practical Caravan forum.
I'm sure that you will enjoy your trip in May and everybody has problems with awnings when they first start out, someone called awnings 'a divorce in a bag'

Have fun learning as you go along and if you want to know anything don't be afraid to ask.
Work colleagues may scoff but you'll be laughing during the summer when you can simply hitch up and go for a lovely weekend with the 3 year old. Enjoy......

Hi. Welcome to the forum. Also sit in the van on the drive for peace and quiet, although I am on the other side of 40 to you (actually on other side of 50 as well). Don't feel bad about the 17 year old, mine also used very similar words when they reached 16 or so. When we had a motorhome we were going away for a weekend and had arranged to drop then 16 year old daughter off at a friends. She made us stop around the corner so friend wouldn't see what "sado's" she had for parents.

Hi Sally, welcome to the forum,
Just thinking to myself you must have set a new world record in putting an awning up in 3 1/2 Hours!!!!

Think after 3 1/4 hours I would have thrown it under the caravan

Only kidding, we just use a decent size porch awning now, much easier.
Hope you enjoy your van, happy hols.

Thanks all for the responses. Yes 3 1/2 hours was a nightmare and will never be repeated. So looking forward to the ten minutes + it will take to put the porch awning up!!!
