Hi chrisp, we are going back up to Springhill farm at Seahouses. I know its more than half hour but you will appreciate the area. Most likely you will of been up there yourselves. The site is about 20 minutes walk from the town centre along country lanes and the same down to the sea. At £12 a night + £2 for an awning its worth the extra running time. It takes us about hour and half just steady away up A1 and then cut across.

Thank you. Unfortunately it adds about 1hr 15mins on our 2hr 30min journey. Having our 8yr old grandson with us means probably a bit too far just for the weekend! However, having looked at the site online, we will surely be having a few days on our own (with the dogs) at Seahouses.
Thanks very much for the info.

l Crisp has promised we had a great time at the Grange CC site at Beamish, shower blocks excellent, we walked into Durham with the dogs on Saturday morning along the river bank took us about 45 min, ask the wardens for the map cost 10p. It takes 10 minutes to drive to beamish from the site, the cc have discount on the entrance fee if you don't want to take up the passport that allows you unlimited visits for 12 months. Angel of the North is 15 minutes away well worth a look. If you like the beach Tynemouth is a lovely place lots of eating places in the village, you must try Marshals chippy, Durham cathedral is a must, hope you enjoy your stay.
