Hello all , Just returned from a glorious week in Bamburg , Northumberland . Car and caravan have been magic , although I wasn't too pleased with only getting 27 mpg on the way up there , mind you that was with a head wind and the a/c on . Came back today at lunch time with slight cross winds but much better mpg , 31 this time , so a little happier . Why I say this is because I have had a DPT module fitted to my diesel engine to give more grunt in lower revs , it gives 20 more BHP and raises the torque from 310 to 360 nm . Thats the technical side but it is definately noticable when towing , much smoother and boy does she GO ! You have to keep taking your foot off now if you want the fuel economy . That said , driving solo its boosted my mpg from an average work run of 45 to 51.5 mpg , now that I am very happy with . Having said all the above its the subject of fuel panic buying that got me started , No trouble at all getting fuel in Northumberland or the Borders although in the Scottish town of Jedburg , well just south of , I saw diesel at 145p / litre , ( phew ) . Drove home this afternoon and didn't see any queues anywhere and even filled up with fuel at a motorway services with SHELL diesel and no problems , that was just north of Doncaster . So is it a case of Fuel stortages or Panic buying OR Media hype ? Anyway I and my goodlady have had a wonderful time and can highly recommend Northumberland and the Borders , very rare to see a car park CHARGING , now that is new ! Well rested but looking forwards to our next jaunt . ---- STEVE .

Its funny you say the Plotter , I said that I saw the price of 1.45/ltr in Scotland , but when I filled up at the Moterway services at Wentbridge south Yorks , I paid 1.30.9 /ltr which I thought a little expensive to normal . After reaching home and leaving the unpacking to me ,( typically ), my wife ( bless her lol ) went to Tescos , when she returned she mentioned that she filled her car up , also diesel , and it was 1.32/ltr . So its the first time EVER that I have known diesel/fuel cheaper at Motorway services than Supermarkets , I would call that PANIC PRICING or the old favourite , FLEECE THE MOTORIST .

Its so very unfair , whilst SHELL and TESCO and many other sales outlets make
