Just back from a few days away at CC site.

Had voices and laughing from awning next to us at gone 1am keeping us awake!

Spoke to warden who acted immediately and had words, after that never heard a thing.

Slept like a baby thereafter. I don't think they realised how noise carries at night.

James Hi..Unfortunately we are also finding more and more people using their Awnings well into late Evenings for chatting..and also watching their T.V.'s...It seems like some people never go into their Vans at all.

We have recently experienced similar problems to you...and on a very hot evening too...when we wanted to open all our windows but couldn't because of the selfishness of our neighbours...O.K. so it is nice to sit on our Awnings but after midnight...I don't think so...and I told them as well...politely of course. They said they were surprised that we could hear them at all....Flip!!!

Ian..Hi yes I am sure you do enjoy your Awning...as we all do..but I do find that sound carries quite a lot from Canvas..especially T.V.s and Radios.. !! depending on spaces between pitches ofcourse..but having experienced various problems from others Awnings over the years I firmly believe that a T.V. should be viewed inside of the Van...sorry just my personal opinion.

Chris.

The word I am looking for is "Respect" for our Vanning neighbours whatever it may be...We are all different..I love Vanning and tolerate most things from other people when away..but I cannot for the life of me see why folk have to sit all n ight in an often cold awning..wrapped up in a blanket just to watch a T.V. Why not buy a Tent...cheaper I think!!

YES EXACTLY____'RESPECT'

i respect others for what they want to do,i hope they respect me for what i want to do,after all if at home i wouldn't tell the bloke next door he couldn't be in his conservatory after 11 to watch telly, nor would i expect him to turn his telly down after 11,not to walk his dog after 11,be in bed by eleven or move his telly from his conservatory to the house after 11_____comon its outdoors of course sound travels___people are there to unwind not to on edge all day and night because theyre terrified of making a noise f.g.s.

I guess we are all different..and want various things when away...and moderation in all things is the key isn't it.

I think today there is too much of "I will do what I want when I am away" attitude that sometimes it becomes too much..but I do respect your views even if I don't entirely agree with them.

I must admit I do a lot of laughing when away...mostly at how stupidly other vanners behave lol..!!

I think it is just typical of today..just take Caravan away and not give a dam about anyone else when on a site...

We have experienced all sorts of people ..most are really nice..and we do use our Awning T.v. Barbeque and have friends around etc. It is just a case of consideration in all things.

I am sure Ray that you too have a good time when away...just remember that if we meet up and you are planning that late Party..please invite me.!!

Now if this had been every night for a week, then fair play. But to complain on night one, come on.

For all we know this could have been the first family holiday for in years or some other reason wher a group of people were just very pleased to be spending time catching up etc. Spoiled by some comudgenly miserable camper. Told off by warden on first night thus spoiling a fellow caravaners holiday and who knows their whole future in caravaning.

Just remember where not all old, noisy, unruly, miserable, quite, self oppinionated, selfish, fun loving, dog owners, book reading, crossword filling, drinking, barbequing, tele watching individuals.

Can you see where I'm going. Where all different we have to respect everybody and after one night come on. After 2 nights ok there could be a trend, speak to the offenders and if everything you guys tell me about our hobby you'll be in their awning making new friends.

Or maybe your all lying about the community spirit that made me join the fraternity

With so many people from different walks of life looking for various holiday experiences sharing a limited number of caravan parks and sites the only thing that really surprises me is that fist fights are not a regular occurrence.

Respect and tolerance are the key words, we are not booked into five star hotels but sharing outdoor space with others who may hold entirely different views and values to our own.

If we visit the countryside on a certified 5 van site I would expect to keep any noise that I might make at night to an absolute minimum and would hope that fellow site users would do the same.

Both clubs impose 'no noise at night' rules so I would expect to obey these rules and for others to do the same when using these venues.

On the other hand if I visited a large commercial site as we did last weekend I would go out and enjoy the entertainment on offer and return to the caravan after it had finished no matter what the time.

I'd try hard not to make any unnecessary or undue noise but if others were slightly noisy on such a site I wouldn't be unduly perturbed.

Noise does indeed carry at night but to insist on or expect absolute silence on any caravan site is a bit too much to ask and those who find just a small amount of noise really disturbing should perhaps consider whether caravanning is really their cup of tea.

I have followed a topic exactly like this before on a caravan forum. It will go on and on. Those who love to have fun and enjoy themselves until the early hours against those who still have fun and enjoy themselves but respect others on the site.

Parksy,

I don't know about you but I'm just in my forties. Will our opinions change as we get older. If there's no noise it reminds me of the ultimate holiday destination yep the church yard.

Don't get me wrong, I love the quiet of the countryside at night but I live in a large town so perhaps I have a high tolerance to noise. It certainly doesn't keep me awake but I would never do anything which might disturb neighbouring caravanners. I'm 57 so it can't be age related, it just doesn't particularly bother me

Just to put the record straight I spoke to other people near the offending caravan and they confirmed it had happened on previous nights. I am not a killjoy and enjoy a drink and a laugh as much if not more than most, but I think that 1am is just not being considerate to other campers. Those who use club sites should obey the rules or go somewhere else.

Jim
