Hi everyone, I am considering a week at the CC site Seacroft near Cromer next August. I am a bit apprehensive about sites with a clubhouse...any comments would be appreciated. Also, for the second week we are thinking of the CC site at Kessingland near Lowestoft. Again, I'd be very grateful for your thoughts. Butler

I've stopped at Whitehouse Beach this year. It's a nice site up to the usual CC standards. The site is split in two with a lane running between the two parts. The lane is a dead end and I believe it leads to a Haven holidays site.

The beachside part is in two rows and the row nearest to the sea cannot use awnings or windbreaks probably because they would impede the view of the vans behind. If you require a pitch in the row nearest to the beach they can be booked.

The main part of the site looks very nice although I'm told that if there are heavy rains it has a tendency to flood in some parts with sewage, maybe others can confirm this.

The beach is shingle. I would use the site again if in that area.

Hi Butler,

We haven't actually stayed at Seacroft but it has been recommended to us - we couldn't get booked in. Apparently the club house is very plush, deep carpets, all new and clean etc. etc. We stayed at Incleboro Fields nearby - not impressed at all. As for Cromer itself I wouldn't rush back, we were so bored we came home three days early, quite simply there's nothing there.

Hi, we stayed at Incleboro fields last summer and contrary to what Valerie says we thought it was a nice site, it is split into different terraces on one side and the other is more open, as for cromer itself again we thought it a pleasent enough place a traditional seaside town further along the coast is Sheringham which again is very pleasent.

We had a look at Seacroft as we passed it is right off the main road and it looked a little cramped although it was August and everywhere was busy.

We also had a look at Whitehouse beach and it did'nt appeal to us at all as has already been said it is at the end of a long narrow road and next door to the Haven park and there was quite a bit of traffic up and down.

Just goes to show we all don't like the same things.

Hi Butler,

Just remembered, whilst we were at Incleboro we drove to Wells Next The Sea which is not too far away. We found a site called Pinewoods which, on the face of it, was impressive. Our first impression was that it was very clean, orderly and on top of the beach. It is also next to a little inlet, almost a harbour sort of affair. Within easy walking distance of Wells Next The Sea itself which I guess you would call a town, although it still retains the quaintness of a village. Lots of shops, restaurants, etc. Next time we visit that area we plan to give it a try - must stress though we haven't actually stayed there. BTW it also has statics on site. Believe it has a website so I guess its worth a look.

Hi Butler, We stayed at Incleboro Field CC site this year, just a bit further along than Seacroft. We stopped and had a look around Seacroft, and it seems a very nice site. Building work was still in progress when we were there, but it looked pretty good to us. Some of the grass areas were looking a bit rough, but I suspect when the CC gets it all sorted out it will be a top class site. We are going to book it for New Year 2010. Out of the two sites I think we would still go for Incleboro Fields though. We spend a lot of time in North Norfolk and never run out of things to do.

Butler,

We HAVE stayed at Seacroft last May.

At that time work was still in progress on both the clubhouse and s/pool.

Obviously in such unfinished state can't give you the full lowdown but if the standard of the facilities block is any thing to go by it should have turned out very well indeed.

Was not too inpressed with the pitches which at that time still needed a lot of tlc to bring up to usual standard of a site bearing this cost structure.....

There was also a slope in the main pitching area where we were so make sure you take your blocks. We also found pitches were not overlarge (not like at Inclborough) but that is only to be expected at popular coastal resort sites.

It's within easy walking distance of Cromer which is its main selling point. You will save on car parking although we do not think Cromer is as rip-off as many other resorts. There's a bus stop right outside the site gates where you can catch frequent bus'es to all the other resorts as far as Hunstanton and Kings Lynn, which will be very interesting to all those with a bus pass....

All in all I would have no hesitation to recommend.

One thing however is to beware of using the post code in your sat-nav as mine tried to take us in the wrong direction. Just stay on the Sherringham/Cromer road and the site is on your right 3/4 mile after East Runton.

Happy holiday, Paul

PS Pool and Clubhouse is well away from pitching area.

Hi everyone, Thank you for your replies. Perhaps I should have said that I have stayed at Incleboro fields several times and know the area quite well. I just fancy a change of site. The reason for my enquiry is that I was very disappointed with Hillhead in Devon and seem to be the only person to be so. The pitch we were allocated there was so small and we were totally hedged in on two sides and had a walkway to the rear. In brief, we had a poor holiday as a result. So, if they allocate pitches at Seacroft then I think I will go back to Incleboro. I couldn't bear to have such a poor pitch again.

Hi Butler

I can't comment on the Cromer site as I have not stayed there. In the October Half Term we were visiting the Suffolk coast for a short break after visiting my ill sister-in-law in Cambridge. The CC Kessingland site was one we considered.

We actually ended up choosing Azure Seas CP, Corton just north of Lowestoft. This was an interesting site where were able to pitch in the wooded camping area and right near to the cliff overlooking the sandy beach. I have put a review of site on the campsite section of UKcampsite.co.uk. If we lived nearer I would definitely visit again.

Whilst there we stopped to have a look at the Kessingland site. I was not too impressed. It was down a rather narrow road with a lot of parked cars and the beach was large and shingle. Only a passing, literally, view, however!!

Hope this helps

Tim
