We are looking forward to staying at this CC site in Battle at the end of this month, May, for the bank holiday WE , we popped in for a peek last year while visiting my Daughter, it seemed very nice , any opinions or advice ? We also notice lovely Rhododendron bushes all around , we wonder if anyone knows when these ones flower, it would be great if it happened during our visit, thanks for any replys

Paul,

Haven't stayed there for a long time, but the site is beautiful, we always used to go for easter. It is within walking distance of battle. I think the Rhoddodendrons should be out when you go, mine have just started showing colour now.

Paul,

Rhododendrons or not you are in for a treat. The whole site is as if you are staying in the grounds of a large country house, which in fact is what it was before the grand house was demolished. Reception has a folder with details of how it all was in the past which makes fascinating reading. Rabbits galore and an owl hooooooting at night. Battle with it's 1066 connections nearby and Hastings - both well worth a visit. Last time we were there we extended our stay twice !

Do you detect a note of envy here ? You bet you do ! !

Normanshurst Court - ah, now that brings back fond memories. Our very first night out in a caravan back in the late 70s (God, is that really 30 years ago??). First time we'd been able to afford a car big enough to tow a caravan (and the first time we could afford a caravan, a very basic fourth-hand Monza!) Wide eyed about everything, but totally smitten! Chose the site because it was fairly quiet, fairly close and we were trying out everything, including the gas mantles for lighting. Not much heating those days - and we woke up to a whiteout of frost! We loved the place then, we loved the experience - and we're still caravanning. From what others have said, it's just as nice now - so hope you have a great time Paul...

Hey, Battle! One of the reasons we are buying a caravan! Used to stay there every year when I was a kid and loved it. Popped my head in a few months ago and it was, pretty much, as I remembered it to be and better! Lovely area, loads of things to do. We are going to be spending a lot of time there once we are set up - even though it's only about an hour and a half away for us! Great memories - you'll love it.

We had a wonderful time in Battle, met up with the family in the area , the flowers were in full bloom, it was gorgeous ,the weather which was awful at home was fine for us, it rained heavy in the night but sun and blue skys in the day. If you go try and get pitch 5 , near everything and it has a space behind like your own private garden, loved this site.

Pitch 5 - we'll definitely check that one out if it's available. Glad you enjoyed your stay - not that I thought it would be any different!
