nose weight measurement

Hi does any body use a Reich nose weight gauge and is it as simple as using the Millenco tube type

Before a tsunami of technical jargon overwhelms your query I'll launch a pre-emptive strike by advising you that the noseweight should be measured with the caravan hitch at the height of your towball when towing.
You can stand your gauge or bathroom scales on material to raise the head of your chosen device to the correct height.
Reich gauges offer a guarantee of accuracy I think.

I use a Reich and it is within a Kg of my Millenco 'calibrated' gauge.

If you ever did Applied Maths at school as I did you will know that the 2-3in or so difference in height caused by the insertion of the Reich makes next to know difference.

My Reich is still accurate and easy to use. There are two models , one for a ta and one for a sa.. I'm off this one before the bomb goes up

I initially used the bathroom scales which a very accurate according to airport check in success. Then I checked the reading from the scales using my Milenco gauge and it was within a couple of kilograms. So after that I just use the Milenco as it’s far more convenient to use and carry around if required. I’m one of those sad people who used to check noseweight on the return journeys from Europe.

We had the Reich and although accurate you need to be careful. Our caravan rolled about an inch and snapped off the head. We now use the heavy duty Milenco nose weight gauge as our nose weight is rated at up to 150kg.
