Noseweight

We have just bought a Swift Challenger 540. We tow it with a Saab 95 2.2 diesel estate. The car/caravan combination is ok but on checking the noseweight with the front locker empty, I find it is around 90kg. This is above the recommended 80gk for the Saab. Has anyone any suggestions that would still leave the outfit safe.

As always, one has 3 options. In order of preference they are:

1. Remove weight at the front (if the front locker is empty, as you say, this is an option that you don't have).

2. Transfer weight from front further back (are you sure there is nothing loose inside the caravan that can be moved behind the axle?).

3. Add ballast at the rear - not a very good solution, but if you have no alternative, that's what you'll have to do.

Thanks for the information Lutz. I am very cautious about adding weight behind the axle but if it helps the noseweight I will give it a try.
