Number Plate Fixing

Hi all. We recently changed our tow car and need to change the number plate on the caravan. I remember reading about using a hairdrier to help loosen the existing glue. I was just wondering what to use to stick the new plate on with. Will it be ok to use Harris number plate tape sold by Halfords or will that damage the caravan. If this link works this is the stuff we are thinking of.

I have always used the heavy duty double sided tape sold for the job. Not the one shown but I see no reason why it would not be as good as all the others I have used of variouis brands; they have done no harm on my caravans.
To get the plate off I find it is easy with effectively a cheese wire; I have used the wire, brass sold by the likes of B&Q to hang pictures up, only because I have it to hand.
The wire is used with two bits of stick/dowel one each end to save hands and threaded between plate and van "sawing" through the old tape. The latter is then picked off with my nails sufficiently to not be an issue.

We've always used the double-sided sticky foam pads and never had a problem. About 6 pads are sufficient and they give room for the 'cheese wire' behind the plate, when necessary.

WD40 will soften the sticky pads, I use dental floss to cut through them and WD40 or sticky stuff remover to get rid of the residue. Never had any detrimental effect on cars or vans.
