Howdy all,
we have just had the old van serviced and it is such a relief to know that it is still in good health. It is a bit of a worry when we are awaiting the results of the experts.Hetty Heritage is a bit of a "grand dame" at 8 years of age,What is that in human years? Himself brought her home and placed her majestically on the drive,I watched as he walked away and yes he did look back at her.He used to do exactly the same when he walked away from his artic,Most truck drivers do this I think. Well time to load her up and off we go on Sunday.I do hope everyone has the same good luck with their service reports as costs are high these days and safery so important. The only faults were a loose tap in the kitchen and a window seal repair.Relief!!!!

Hi TC - Grand Dame, at eight? That must make ours a Dowager Duchess at 11 and a half! We still think of the caravan (known as Speedy - but without gender) as being 'nearly new' and it's in fine condition, without any damp NOW, and has now (we reckon) covered 55,000 towed miles! It has a few dints on the awning side, where poles have caught it, we installed a new front window after the original was damaged, and we've modified the rear 'skirt' to make the rainwater drip off instead of running on to the baseboard of the van which did cause some problems a few years ago. It's had two new shower trays (never been used in 11 years but replaced under warranty and then re-replaced). It's also had a couple of repairs because of damage caused whilst towing/manoeuvring and covered by insurance. Otherwise everything is working fine.
It's now gone into indoor storage in France - and we hope to keep on using it until it looks as out of date as some of those old French vans you see on campsites there!

Well now you have set my mind at ease because everywhere we seem to go our Hetty is is the old timer. There are so many new glitzy outfits about.Like yourselves we are very happy with our biscuit tin and have no plans to change her in the foreseeable future. It is our intention to station her in France in the Loire if the time comes when Himself gets tired and Hetty catches up with him instaead of following behind!!! The service engineers are always keen to point out that a new van is a good option but fortunately we cant afford it so Hetty comes home again and may she keep going for as many years as yours.

Exchanged my 15 year old van back in march, did major damp repair and resealed rails etc and when part exchanged there was no damp anywhere, in fact the salesman remarked that it was in excellent condition for the year, only changed cause we wanted a fixed bed and a bit more comfort!!!. It is now on a permanent pitch at Stowford.
So TC just goes to prove look after Hetty and she will do you proud for years to come.
