The fan motor has died and a new none is £86 from Leisure direct they also do a complete fan for £106 which I would rather have to get the control pack in case that fails.Has anyone else had motor problems and found anywhere not so expensive?(Series 6 Indiana btw)

See below the full euro price list.

The motor comes with the fan blades part no 51 9019 00

Hi,couldnt find that.Am sure it is motor, have removed it and put wires direct to battery and motor tries to start without success.Would be more than happy with that price.Van is less than 3 years old but going to dealer for checking then again for replacement would be dearer than buying assuming fan has 3 year not one year warranty. Its not always clear what is and isn't covered. Also Bailey go on break this time of year so it will be September before anything gets fixed.

Thank you again for your help

Same thing happened to my fan a few weeks ago

Just like yours, tested the motor across the battery and it thought about turning but not much else.

Got a second hand one from a caravan breakers in Creswell -

its probably the brushes in the motor and very easy to fix your self.

The brushes ( these supply 12v to the commutator which makes it turn) are probably dirty and need a clean.

You will have to take the motor apart but anyone who can change the oil in their car can work it out for themselves, or just google the instructions.

Having looked at it the rivets are quite rusty and am wondering if rain has settled in the rivet recesses making its way into the motor and corroding the connections inside.Have found a motor for

Have fixed it ,removed the grommet where the wires enter the fan and you can see the commutater. The wires seemed to have moved inside the fan and caused the brushes to lose contact.Stretched the wires and put grommet back and all is fine.Used a small tiewrap to tighten the grommet to wire and am hoping for the best.

Will also get some electrical cleaner as it would be easy to spray through the grommet hole to clean brushes etc.

Thanks to all for advice and postings

Just for info, I have had the same problem with my Omnivent. Fortunately I have managed to fix it and the good news is it's really simple. In fact the rivets do not need to be removed at all. They need to stay in place as they hold the brushes in place. In fact the top of the motor simply prises off! Just get a sharp but sturdy blade and insert it between the lid of the motor and the base. The strong magnet on the motor does try to hold the lid in place, but if you work your way round it comes off OK. The common problem seems to be that the brushes stick in the holder. They have used a very weak spring, so it doesn't take much. After easing the brushes off and a drop of WD40 I reassembled it with a smear of silicone sealer round the top and it is now perfect.

Hope that helps someone else and saves them £90...

VANMAN - That's great. I had the same problem. I would never have guessed you can simply prize the case appart unless you had pointed it out and just as you said one of the brushes had stuck. That's save me some money and hassle. Fan is back together now and working fine. Thanks again.
